For Immediate Release
Milledgeville, GA — Monday, September 15, 2026 — Milledgeville Theatre Collective (MTC) is delighted to announce its fall production of Father of the Bride, the beloved stage comedy that inspired the classic films. Performances will take place October 2–4 at 7:00 p.m. at Woodland Acres at Robbins Farm (223 Cox Woodland Rd NW, Milledgeville, GA).
Directed by Jennifer Watkins, Vice President of MTC, this heartwarming and hilarious play tells the story of a father whose world is turned upside down when his daughter announces her engagement. What begins as a simple family milestone spirals into a whirlwind of planning, emotions, and comedic chaos.
In a special twist, the production will be staged at a real wedding venue, immersing audiences in the atmosphere of the Banks family’s big day. Guests will feel like they are part of the wedding celebration as the story unfolds around them.
“Regardless of whether you’re a father, a mother, married, or single, we all can relate to the experience of loving someone and letting them go,” said Director Jennifer Watkins. “Father of the Bride is a play that will make you laugh and cry, and it’s a great opportunity to connect with local theatre lovers.”

Founded by a team of passionate educators, performers, and community leaders, MTC is built on the belief that high-quality theater thrives when professionalism and community go hand in hand.
“We are creating a space where collaboration is not just encouraged—it’s essential,” said President, Rebecca Brasher. “Every project we produce will reflect the care, intention, and artistry of the people who shape it.”
MTC will operate as a nonprofit collaborative with a seasonal mix of mainstage productions, youth programming, and pop-up performance events designed to meet audiences where they are—in theaters, churches, parks, and beyond.
Key pillars of the organization include:
Community-driven programming that reflects diverse voices and stories
Education and mentorship for performers, directors, and tech artists of all ages
Strategic partnerships with local businesses and other local nonprofits
MTC will unveil its inaugural season lineup this semester, beginning with Father of the Bride (October 2-4, 2025)—a mainstage production in partnership with the beautiful new local wedding venue, Woodland Acres at Robbins Farm. Future programming includes a holiday partnership with New City Church at The Mill for ’Twas the Night Before Christmas (December 11-12, 2025)—a theatre for young audiences production that kids from one to ninety-two will love.
Brasher added, “We’re building a culture of artistic integrity and mutual respect. Whether you’re a veteran performer, a student, or someone who’s never set foot on stage, you’ll find a place here.”
